MHG Firmer Chisel with Hornbeam handle and Fine-honed blade and are manufactured in Schmalkalden, Germany.
The total length of the various chisels differs according to their width. For example, the 6 mm chisel is 245 mm long and the 26 mm chisel is 275 mm long. These chisels are available in sizes from 2 mm to 60 mm in width.
The blades have been sharpened, not polished, so as to avoid rounding the edges of the face, which should be as flat as possible for fine work.
The handle is made of clear-finished hornbeam. It is slightly flattened so that even the narrower chisels will not roll away or off a bench.
These chisels are of a quality you would expect from a German manufacturer with a long and expert tradition in forging and hardening techniques.
Manufactured from high-grade steel, hardened to a Rockwell hardness of 61, MHG chisels will retain their keen edge for a long time.
Chisels are sharp out of the box but will benefit from minimal final honing prior to use.
